Mr. Evans

One of my favorite drives to take when I am back home in beautiful Colorado, is the Mt. Evans Peak drive. Mt. Evans is a 14,000 foot peak (called a 14er by locals) and you can drive all the way to the top. Highly recommended if you have the time the next time you are in Colorado. On your way to the top you are surrounded by expansive views, wildlife, little oxygen, and crisp air. I love stopping off at the myriad of pulloffs along the way up and capturing the beauty at every turn. Keep your eyes peeled as you climb for marmots, big horn sheep, white mountain goats, and many more creatures of the wild. Make sure to bring some winter gear as the weather on top of Mt. Evans changes often. It can be hot and sunny down below and blizzard conditions at the summit. You feel like you're on top of the world up there...it's a special place!

Mr. Evan's Sheep

Driving my Jeep along the windy Mt. Evans road up to the summit I stop off at the side of the road to have a conversation with a few bighorn sheep. They look a little rough because they are shedding their winter coats and getting ready for the warm summer. I'm a lover of wildlife and a well known paparazzi by animals across the world. Mt. Evans has a special place in my heart and I try to get up there at least once a year. I never tire of the expansive views, curious wildlife, and rugged terrain.

Mr. Turtle

Paddling my kayak up Mirror Lake in Wisconsin I see this turtle from a distance. I know these fellas like to plop into the water just as soon as you think you can get a peek at them. I took my time, gently drifting into his neighborhood. My kayak gently bumped into a stump and I was grounded for a bit. I sat there for quite some time letting Mr. Turtle relax. After a while I slowly gathered my camera and gently set up the shot. He began posing for me while he continued to soak up the sun rays. The world passed by us as we sat there trying to figure each other out. He didn't seem too camera shy and I kept my distance, respectfully. It's these still moments in the wild that leave me feeling free and at peace with myself and the world. We all need more moments like this in our lives, wouldn't you agree?!
